Her diploma thesis about probabilistic estimation of ship’s ultimate strength based on surveys data ,that received great appraisals depicts her early passion in marine surveying.
Immediately after her graduation, she was hired as a class surveyor to the American Bureau of Shipping. After two months she moved to South Korea for the big newbuilding marine and offshore projects.
Marine and Offshore
During her three-year assignment in South Korea to the biggest shipyards in the world (DSME and Samsung Heavy Industries), she carried out various marine and offshore projects working together with very experienced, specialized and highly skilled professionals from whom she got the greatest part of her experience. Olympia’s newbuilding projects were: Drill Ships for Vantage and Seadrill, LNGs for Maran Gas and Gaslog and Containerships for NOL.
Her multi-tasking role (structure, machinery, electrical, outfitting) as an ABS surveyor resulted in gaining a wide variety of experience including specialized equipment such as drilling package and subsea.
After spending three years in South Korea, Olympia moved within ABS to the Netherlands. Her job was related to surveys in ships and offshore units in operation, including repairs and modification projects. During this assignment, she dealt with oil and chemical tankers, bulk carriers, containerships , jack up rigs and heavy lifting units. She also attended Factory Acceptance Tests to various marine and offshore equipment.
After five years working with ABS and after she got certified as an experienced surveyor, Olympia decided to move on to the next step in her career by founding her own company using the knowledge and experience she gained ,for her client’s needs. Building excellent relationship with clients during her assignment in ABS motivated her to move to the next challenge.
